Armuchee Announces New Athletics Director
Preston Cash, interim head football coach at Armuchee High for the 2011 season, has been selected to be the new head football
coach and athletic director at Armuchee High. The announcement was made today by Dr. J.C. Burris, principal of Armuchee. Cash
was named interim head coach after the fourth game of this past football season.
In making the announcement, Dr. Burris said that the process to select Cash to permanently fill the two posts took several
weeks and involved the community through the Armuchee High Local School Governance Team. "Coach Cash is a highly motivated
man who had success in a difficult situation this season." Burris said. "I look forward to working with him because of his
knowledge and experience in a variety of sports." Burris added, "Coach Cash has been very supportive of all sports since he
has been at Armuchee High."
Coach Cash is a veteran of 25 years of football coaching experience and he has been on the Armuchee High staff for the last
five. He teaches physical education at Armuchee High and also has served as assistant baseball coach.
Coach Cash started his coaching career at Chattooga High before coming to Floyd County in 1990. He coached and was athletic
director at Coosa Middle School from 1990 to 2000. He then moved to Coosa High before becoming a coach at Armuchee in 2006.
Coach Cash also served as interim head coach for part of a season in the mid 90's at Coosa High School.
