Barron Stadium's track is now open for public use. At least four gates that will allow access are three home side entrances
and the gate next to the field house on the visitor's side. See schedule below.
The Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority held a monthly board meeting and after much discussion and consideration of
public input, the board unanimously voted to approve a new schedule for public access to Barron Stadium Maddox Track.
Maddox Track will be open to the public Monday through Saturday 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. The time period of 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. will be
allocated for potential rentals and maintenance. In the event that no practices or maintenance is scheduled, the stadium would
remain open the entire time. The public is encouraged to walk in the outside lanes (5-8) and avoid the use of lanes (1-4) at
all times. The field at Barron Stadium is closed to all public use. The track will open to the public on Monday, October 31.
It is the position of the Authority Board that the entire complex will continue to be rented for sporting events as a means
to offset the total operation of the complex. In light of this position, the stadium complex from time to time and as the
opportunity presents itself, will be closed to the public for the aforementioned events. The Authority will, in a timely
manner, post such occasions on the RFPRA.com website, display on the stadium board, and provide a text message service for
individuals to opt-in to be kept abreast of the track schedule.
Text Message Opt-in: Text “Barron” to “70359” to receive text updates on Barron Stadium Maddox Track public use schedule
changes due to events and rentals. (standard text message rates will apply)
