Sole Occupant of Truck Rollover Says He Wasn't Driving

Floyd County Police Accident & Incident Report:

Around 12:15 a.m. Saturday morning, 2.4.12, FCPD and rescue crews responded to the 400 block of Hwy 411, west of Foster's Mill just outside of Cave Spring, due to a report of a truck that had struck a power pole then spun out and rolled over off the road. Upon arrival, first responders found 26 yr old Andrew Ridgon Ware, of Cave Spring, trapped in an overturned 1974 Ford F-250 truck owned by his father. Ware lost control of the truck riding 97 ft on the north shoulder, hit a power pole spinning 52 ft then finally rolling the truck for a distance of 82 ft. Due to structural damage to the truck, Ware became entrapped and had to be cut from the vehicle with minimal injuries. While at the scene, FCPD officer Matt Meyers noted a strong smell of alcohol on the driver along with lethargic, slurred speech. He also discovered cold beer cans, glass bottles and a cooler with remnants of ice among debris from the wreckage. After being transported to the hospital for evaluation, Ware refused to submit to an alcohol and/or drug test and after questioning by officer Meyers stated that he was not driving the truck. Ware was then placed under arrest and taken to the Floyd County Jail charged with the following offenses:

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Canceled Registration

Failure to Maintain Lane

Driving Too Fast for Conditions

Suspended License
