Red Light Camera Ticket Scam
MEDIA RELEASE: Local police are warning of another scam that is sweeping through Rome. This scam involves individuals that are calling people and telling them that they have an outstanding fine where they were pictured running the red light at Turner McCall Blvd and Riverbend Dr. As you well know this camera is not functioning and has not been functioning for some time. The individuals calling request the victim to call another number and where they are then given directions on how to pay the fine. One victim called the number and was told to go to a local location and purchase a green dot card to pay the fine. Please help to inform others that this is a SCAM. The people are saying they are from Floyd Sheriff's office and the police and they are not.
